Popular football administrator, Alhaji Grusah has disclosed that several attempts to convince defender Salisu Mohammed to play for Ghana has proved fruitless.
Many have wondered why the Southampton defender has been refusing to accept an invitation to the Black Stars despite several attempts by some highly respected personalities in the country to convince him.[ads2]
Salisu has been one of the top performing Ghanaian players in Europe and many have been yawning for his presence in the Black Stars defence but the 22-year old keeps declining the invitations.
Among the personalities in constant talks with the former Real Valladolid defender is ace Ghanaian football administrator Alhaji Grusah.
According to the King Faisal FC bankroller, he was tasked to talk to Salisu Mohammed who has been a kingpin for Southampton in the ongoing English Premier League season but all efforts has proved futile.[ads3]
“The Black Stars Committee Chairman tasked me to speak to Salisu because he’s from Kumasi. I called his dad and he linked me to him. Salisu flatly told me to stay away from his matter. He questioned me that if he was my son, would I advise him to play for Ghana?”, Alhaji Grusah told Accra-based Atinka FM.[ads4]
He continued that, “I’m not the only person who has spoken to him, I know CK Akonnor went to him, he said he won’t play. Even the GFA President said he found where his mother stays and went to her. I don’t know what happened but Salisu is not ready to play.
“He was angry when I called him, he insisted several times that I should stay out of the matter because he doesn’t want to have any problem with me. I’m not going to involve myself in his matter again. I don’t know the problem he has with the GFA but I will not call him again.”[ads5]
