It is expected that Ghana’s government will buy Kwame Nkrumah’s house in Guinea, according to the ministries and Ghana’s vice president, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.

The vice president led a high-level Ghanaian delegation to visit the family and inspect Dr. Nkrumah’s long-abandoned residence in Guinea

Kwame Nkrumah spent his final years in exile as honorary co-president of Guinea. The move aims to turn the house into a heritage site that honors Nkrumah’s life and Pan-African vision.

Ghana plans to renovate the property and open it to the public as an educational and cultural landmark.

Nkrumah went into exile in Guinea after a 1966 military coup and lived mainly in Conakry. As his health worsened, he later traveled to Romania for treatment, where he died in 1972.
