Football supporters in Ghana will be able to watch every second of the 2026 FIFA World Cup live, following the government’s successful effort bolstered by a nationwide fundraising drive to secure the broadcasting rights for the tournament.
The news was revealed by Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, at a ceremony held to back the Black Stars’ preparations for the competition.
During the event, GCB Bank contributed GH¢5 million to the national team’s World Cup campaign, a move widely regarded as a major boost to Ghana’s preparations and ambitions for the tournament.
Mr. Adams stated that the achievement resulted from collaboration between the government and private sector partners, ensuring that fans nationwide would have access to live broadcasts of the world’s premier football event.
“Thanks to government support and fundraising initiatives, we have secured the broadcast rights to air World Cup matches live on various media stations,” he said.
The fundraising campaign, led by the government, is designed to gather financial backing for the Black Stars as they gear up for the expanded 2026 tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, marking the first time the competition will be held across three nations.
With growing excitement among supporters, Ghana aims to combine strong on-pitch preparation with increasing national backing off it, as the Black Stars set their sights on a successful run on football’s grandest stage.
