Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup have received a significant financial boost, following a successful fundraising drive that has drawn support from corporate institutions, entrepreneurs, and leading figures in the country’s creative industry.
In total, the campaign has generated $12,096,000 alongside GHS13,950,000, in addition to a GHS20,000,000 insurance package secured to support the welfare of the Black Stars.
Leading the list of contributors is Engineers & Planners with a remarkable $5 million donation, underscoring the company’s continued commitment to national development through sports. Mining giant Gold Fields Ghana followed with $2 million, and an additional pledge of $1 million earmarked for Black Stars activities next year.
Energy sector players also featured prominently, with Jewel Energy contributing $1 million, while Icon Energy added GHS1 million. Financial and gaming technology firm KGL Group made one of the biggest cedi contributions of GHS10 million.
The fundraising effort also saw a strong showing from Ghana’s creative arts space. Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale donated $100,000, while Stonebwoy contributed $81,000 and committed an additional $20,000 towards producing a campaign song to support the national team’s World Cup journey.
Other notable contributions include $2 million from Christian Salamony Game Technology, $300,000 from Timeline and Innovation Company, and $1 million from an anonymous donor.
Insurance support has also been secured through Serene Insurance, which provided GHS2 million in cash alongside a comprehensive GHS20 million insurance package for the Black Stars.
Additional contributions came from a mix of small and medium enterprises, including PayAngel (GHS100,000), Erata Motors (GHS200,000), and Abosokai Spare Parts Dealer (GHS500,000). A joint donation of $15,000 was made by P & A African Food International and Degree Auto Mechanic, while Nana Adjoo Baah added GHS150,000.

The fundraising campaign reflects a growing sense of collective responsibility towards national football, with contributions spanning industries and influence. Beyond the financial figures, the initiative highlights a unified front aimed at ensuring the Black Stars are well-resourced and motivated ahead of the global tournament.
