Former Ghana and Leeds United legendary striker, Tony Yeboah has cast doubt on the Black Stars winning the AFCON 2021.
Ghana is in quest for a fifth AFCON trophy after last winning it in 1982. Since then, the West African country had lost three finals with the last against Ivory Coast in 2015.[ads2]
Ghana is going into the tournament with 17 debutants in an expanded 28-man squad with many labelling the squad as a lightweight compared to the other top countries.
“It will be difficult for Ghana to win the AFCON but everything is possible in life, so we should pray behind the team. To me, we cannot win the trophy with this team but anything can happen in football,” Tony Yeboah told Onua TV.[ads3]
”We’ve had several good players but we were unable to win the title. I believe if we are able to organize things well, anything can happen.”
Ghana has been placed in Group D of the prestigious tournament and will play first game against Morocco on January 10, 2022 before facing Gabon and Comoros.[ads5]
