The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been elected as a member of the Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). His four-year term will run from 2025 to 2029.
Okraku, who secured the position unopposed, joins the 24-member committee of Africa’s football governing body. His election is a testament to his leadership and contributions to Ghanaian football since assuming office in 2019.
Under his tenure, the GFA has prioritized transparency, grassroots football development, women’s football, and youth programs—efforts that have earned him recognition within the African football community. His presence on the CAF EXCO is expected to enhance Ghana’s influence in continental football decision-making and contribute to the overall development of the sport across Africa.
Okraku’s appointment also extends Ghana’s legacy of representation in CAF’s leadership. He becomes the sixth Ghanaian to serve on the Executive Committee, following in the footsteps of Ohene Djan, Kobina Hagan, Nana Fredua Mensah, Samuel Okyere, and Kwesi Nyantakyi.
