Accra-based volleyball club, El Wak Wings have been invited to represent Ghana at the maiden edition of the International Volleyball Tournament in Burkina Faso.
The ten-nations tournament will be held at the city of Bobo Dioulasso in Burkina Faso from May 25 to May, 30, 2021.[ads2]
El Wak Wings who are the representatives of Ghana in both the men and women division will battle with nine other teams from Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Mali, Benin, Senegal, Togo, Niger and Nigeria for the enviable trophies.
The objective of the sub-region tournament is to give elite clubs high level competition at an affordable cost and also help management of the various volleyball clubs to access their teams very well for their domestic competitions.[ads3]
El Wak Wings are expected to travel to Burkina Faso in the next coming weeks for the highly anticipated tournament in the West African country.
They have become the first ever Ghanaian volleyball team to partake in the competition due to their splendid form in the Greater Accra Volleyball league.[ads4]
El Wak Wings joined the sixteen-team Greater Accra Regional Volleyball League in 2017 and were the first runner up in the 2019 edition of the league season.
Most of their players both men and women are drawn from the various security services in the country, making them one of the best clubs in the regional league.[ads5]
