[ads5]Ghanaian gospel artiste, Kofi Owusu Duah Anto otherwise known as Koda has advised fellow musicians to desist from appointing their spouse as their managers.
In Ghana, the likes of Okyeame Kwame, Obapa Christy and Joyce Blessing has or had their spouse serving as their managers instead of an external managers.
It is believed that there is much understanding when artistes appoint their spouse as their managers which help the marriage to last.[ads4]
But Koda is of a different view as he believes there is much confusion when an artiste appoint the spouse as the manager because differentiating business from the marriage will always be a problem.
Speaking to Feeling Daddy on Takoradi-based Empire FM, Koda stated that there is much cooperation and understanding when an artiste go in for an external manager instead of appointing the spouse to take charge of such an important role.[ads3]
“My manager is Nana Abeiku Andam and am managing Ewurama [a gospel singer]. In one of the interviews I listened to, there was this man who was managing the wife as a musician, he confessed that at times you can’t differentiate between business and the relationship and it is something which is real”, he said…
“I remember, recording my wife’s first album, it was funny. She was protesting against every suggestion that I made but later on she understood the business, it is something which is not easy.. I think settling for external manager will help. Marriage is something people shouldn’t come between, so it’s perfect to get an external manager, I can’t be shouting on my wife like that, so I won’t advised that”, he added….
