The Confederation of African Volleyball’s (CAVB) Zone 3 Nations Cup continued today at the Labanon House in Accra.
The day two of the competition provided an exciting and tantalizing games with Nigeria clash with Burkina Faso producing five sets.
Ghana’s Women Team thumped counterpart from Burkina Faso 3-0 (25:16, 25:19, 25:14) to boost confidence of winning the competition.
Surprisingly, Ghana’s Women U23 side were shamefully beaten by their age mates from Benin 1:3 despite the overwhelming support.
On the other side, Mali’s senior women’s team were whipped by Burkina Faso 3-1 while in the men’s division, Mali clamped Benin 3-1 to bring smiles on the faces of fans at the Lebanon House Volleyball arena.
Ghana’s Black Spikers (Men) continued to show superiority and dominance in the competition, by beating their own U23 side 3:0 in a 25:15, 25:19 and 25:14 straight sets.
The day was climaxed with what could be described as a cagey and a fascinating encounter, as Nigeria beat Burkina Faso by 25:21, 23:25, 25:19, 18:25 and 15:9 in a five sets thriller.
Meanwhile, the Competition continues on Sunday as Mali’s U23 side face Ghana U23 in the men’s category with Mali coming face-to-face against Benin in the women’s division. Ghana’s Black Spikers will face Ghana U23 side, Benin will meet Nigeria, Ghana U23 will take on Burkina Faso, with Mali and Ghana to climax the day.
