Ghana has once again denied Nigeria a ticket to a major international tournament this year after the Black Galaxies defeated the Green Eagles to qualify for the CHAN 2023 in Algeria.[ads2]
Ghana defeated Nigeria 5:4 on penalty shootouts in the second leg of the last phase of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2023 qualifiers at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday evening. This was after the two legs had ended 2:2.
The first leg saw Ghana beating Nigeria 2:0 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. But after conceding the first goal in the early minutes of second half of the second leg in Abuja, things were going in favor of the Black Galaxies until the Nigerians netted the second goal in the dying embers of the game.[ads3]
Even though the second goal came at a very disappointing time, coach Annor Walker and his charges regrouped and went into the penalty shootouts with all confidence to win by 5:4 at the virtually empty Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
Ghana, a former CHAN champions have returned to the tournament to be held in Algeria after three consecutive time of missing out.[ads4]
