Brazilian club Gremio has opted not to release winger Francis Amuzu for the friendly match between Ghana and Mexico, which is set for May 22. This choice stems from the player’s significance to their current squad.
According to the club’s leadership, the call-up was issued too late, as the team is currently involved in a demanding run of matches in both domestic league and international tournaments.
Brought in to strengthen the attack, Francis Amuzu is considered a key figure in the club’s present form. Gremio finds it challenging to manage without him in upcoming fixtures, notably against Confiança, Bahia, Palestino, and Santos.
Consequently, the Brazilian side is emphasizing squad stability and roster management, asserting that this is not an opportune moment for an international trip—even for a friendly encounter.
On the other hand, the Ghanaian national team will have to proceed without the winger for this notable matchup against Mexico. His unavailability forces the technical staff to reconsider their attacking strategies for this preparatory game.
