Black Stars winger Christian Atsu has been ruled out of the team’s last group game against Guinea-Bassau at the Suez Stadium.
The Newcastle United winger was forced out of Ghana’s second game in the AFCON against Cameroon as early as the fifteenth minutes after sustaining an injury.
Speaking at Ghana’s pre-match conference, head coach Kwesi Appiah confirmed that Christian Atsu will be missing the last group game on Tuesday with a final decision to be taken on the injury situations of Andre Ayew and Jonathan Mensah during a final training session today.
“A scan was conducted on the two players – Atsu and Jonathan Mensah – after the game with Cameroon.
“Atsu’s injury looks a bit serious and he will not be ready for the game but Jonathan will train this afternoon for us to take a final decision,” Kwasi Appiah said before the Guinea-Bissau game.
Meanwhile, Ghana continues to end the 37 years of not winning the AFCON trophy and will need to beat Guinea-Bassau on Tuesday, July 2 at the Suez Stadium to secure knockout qualification.
