About fifteen Ghanaian students in Ukraine have refused to return home despite government’s effort, according to the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong. The Ghanaian government has been evacuating its citizens in Ukraine since the Russia invasion. Already the first batch of the students have returned to Ghana after government provided them with flight tickets. The member of Parliament for Ellembele, Emmanuel Kofi Buah has been arrested alongside four others for traffic offences. The lawmaker and the other four were arrested by the Airport Divisional Police MTTD on Thursday, March 3 near the Aviation Social Centre for careless and inconsiderate driving, including driving in the middle of the road facing oncoming vehicles. Reports from Nigeria say about 115 youths stormed the Ukrainian embassy in the country to volunteer to fight against the Russian troops. Their move, according to the reports, followed the call for volunteer fighters by the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky as Russia invasion in the European country continue to escalate.
