Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has not given up on his dreams to play for Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League before hanging his boots.
The 36-year old was heavily linked to Kotoko prior to the commencement of the 2020/21 league season but ended up signing a year deal for Legon Cities FC.
This was after a stint with Indian side NorthEast United where he scored some important goals for the club in the Asian country.
Gyan parted ways with Legon Cities in October last year and since then has been unattached to any club.
Speaking on Accra-based Joy FM as part of his media engagement ahead of his book launch, Asamoah Gyan stated that he would love to play for Kotoko should he return to active football.
“I would like to play for Asante Kotoko if I have to return [to playing football again]. I am a huge fan of the club,” – the all-time Ghana topscorer said.
Asamoah Gyan has played for over ten clubs including Liberty Professionals, Udinese, Sunderland and Rennes, scoring over 200 goals.
He is currently the Black Stars all-time leading topscorer with 51 goals after 109 appearance since making his debut 2003.
Asamoah Gyan has not been part of the Black Stars after the 2019 AFCON where Ghana was eliminated in the knockout stage by Tunisia.
