Apple Music has unveiled a groundbreaking feature that utilizes artificial intelligence to blend and mix tracks seamlessly.
The AutoMix feature, introduced with the recent release of iOS 26, enables Apple Music users to create unique transitions between songs, emulating the experience of a professional DJ.
While Spotify, Apple Music’s primary competitor, introduced its crossfade function in 2012, which allows for blending at the beginning and end of tracks, Apple asserts that AutoMix offers a more advanced solution. This feature leverages Apple Intelligence to incorporate time stretching and beat matching, ensuring continuous playback and a more seamless listening experience.
This innovation follows closely on the heels of Apple’s DJ with Apple Music update, launched just two months prior. This update allows users to integrate their Apple Music catalog with popular DJ software such as rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro, Engine DJ, and Algoriddim’s djay Pro.
Additionally, the update expanded Apple Music’s library accessibility to hardware devices, including AlphaTheta’s OMNIS-DUO and XDJ-AZ, as well as all-in-one systems from Denon DJ, Numark, and RANE DJ.
