Former Asante Kotoko defender, Amos Frimpong has called for support for the newly appointed captains of the club.[ads2]
The Ghanaian champions announced new captains for the 2022/23 league season after Abdul Ganiyu was striped off the armband as the leader of the playing body after allegedly requesting for a termination of contract.
Richard Boadu who has been with the team for only a year was named the captain assisted by defender Yussif Mubarik (first deputy), Ibrahim Danland (second deputy), Christopher Nettey (third deputy) and new signing Pouaty Dendoum (fourth deputy).
But Amos Frimpong who was the captain for Asante Kotoko before leaving for Kaloum Stars in Guinea, believes the newly appointed captains led by Richard Boadu will need the support of everyone affiliated to the club to succeed.[ads3]
“Before a team appoint a captain to lead them, it doesn’t matter whether the player has been with the team for a longer period or not, if the management sees certain leadership qualities in you and believe you can lead the team to glory, longevity doesn’t matter”, Amos Frimpong told Kumasi-based Agyenkwa FM in an interview.
“Richard Boadu will need the support of everyone to succeed including the supporters. We shouldn’t support individuals rather the team, who is the captain doesn’t matter”, he added.
