Hearts of Oak midfielder Sulley Muntari has heaped praises to teammate Daniel Afriyie Barnieh for a spectacular showdown against AshantiGold last Sunday.
Barnieh was the hero of the day as his two goals helped Hearts of Oak to defeat AshantiGold 2:1 in week 21 of the Ghana Premier League yesterday.
Despite winning the man of the match, Muntari believes Afriyie Barnieh was exceptional in the cagey encounter for the Phobians.
In an interview after the game, Sulley Muntari described Afriyie Barnieh as an amazing talent and an important figure for the Phobians as they quest to defend the league title.
“It was amazing and he [Afriyie Barnieh] is an amazing player and very important for us. I’m happy with his performance, and I’m here to help him and the other the younger ones to grow. My priority is not to win best player awards or whatsoever but to help the younger ones to get the right attitude and confidence to play”, Muntari said.
On whether he has been contacted for the upcoming Black Stars world cup playoff games against Nigeria, the former UEFA Champions League winner said, “I have only gotten a call from my son and no one else.”
