Ghana have been dealt the biggest blow in history after shameful defeat to Comoros in last group game of the tournament.
The four-time AFCON champions were beaten 3:2 by Comoros Islands in a frantic encounter at the Stage Omnisport Roumde Adjia in Garouha on Tuesday evening.
Ghana played the game with a ten players after skipper Andre Ayew was shown the red card for fouling Comoros goalkeeper Salim Boina in the 23rd minute.[ads2]
Skipper Ben Mohammed broke the virginity of the game for Comoros in the 3rd minute after smartly beating the Ghanaian defence to place into the buttom corner to get their first ever goal in the Africa Cup of Nations.
That didn’t deter Ghana from pushing for the equaliser. Defender Alexander Djiku came close to snatching the parity for Ghana in the 7th minute but had his heart tipped off by the Coelacantes goalie.
Centre-back Kasim M’Dahoma nearly committed a howler on the 34th minute after gifting a pass to Fatawu Issahaku who quickly raced his way through the box but a great recovery from Fouad Bachirou saved the situation.
The Black Stars came back stronger in the second half for the equaliser after Fatawu Issahaku cuts in nicely and sent a powerful hit which got deflected for a wasted corner kick.[ads3]
Comoros doubled their lead in the 62nd minute after Ahmed Mogni turned Thomas Partey beautifully and struck straight into the net with goalkeeper Jojo Wollacot’s effort to save the ball becoming fruitless.
The Black Stars reduced the deficit in just two minutes time after Richmond Boakye Yiadom headed from Daniel Kofi Kyereh’s corner kick.

The St Pauli attacker’s free kick saved to a corner. The resulting kick was tapped into the net by Alexander Djiku from Partey’s header.
Comoros had the final goal to seal victory on the 86th minute with Ahmed Mogni tapping into the net to end the game.
