Accra Lions’ midfield sensation Jacob Gildas Awoute has completed a move to UAE Pro League side FC Baniyas following a stellar individual campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
The 20-year-old dynamic midfielder has signed a deal with the Abu Dhabi-based club during the current transfer window and will be registered under the residents’ category according to an official announcement from Baniyas. Awoute stood out as a shining light in an otherwise difficult season for Accra Lions, who were relegated from the topflight at the end of the 2024/25 season. Despite the team’s struggles, he delivered consistently strong performances across 31 league appearances scoring two goals** and collecting multiple **Man of the Match honours— including in the club’s emphatic 3-0 win over giants Asante Kotoko.
His impressive displays drew attention from scouts abroad, ultimately earning him the opportunity to continue his career in the UAE.
Awoute is expected to travel to **Serbia**, where Baniyas will hold their pre-season training camp ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. He is tipped to play a key role in the midfield as the club looks to strengthen its squad for a competitive season in the UAE Pro League.
