Abdul Fatawu delivered a stunning performance by scoring from inside his own half, contributing to Leicester City’s commanding 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the King Power Stadium.
Fatawu’s extraordinary lob from approximately 65 yards out doubled Leicester’s advantage just two minutes before the halftime break, following Bobby De Cordova-Reid’s impressive long-range strike in the eighth minute.
Leicester further solidified their lead in the 52nd minute when Jordan Ayew successfully converted Ricardo Pereira’s precise cutback. Ipswich managed to pull one back through substitute Jens Cajuste, capitalizing on a mistake by goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk.
Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes praised Fatawu’s exceptional goal, stating, “The second goal is a brilliant moment from Abdul. He frequently attempts such feats in training and actively seeks out those opportunities. It’s a remarkable goal, and it reflects his commitment to self-improvement. It was indeed a very special moment.”
The Ghanaian will be looking forward to continuing his great form and standing a chance of making it to the World Cup.
