Ghana will be facing Portugal at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and most Ghanaians believe Cristiano Ronaldo will terrorize the Black Stars but Yaw Preko believes otherwise.
Ghana will open the World Cup campaign against Portugal – a country most Ghanaians want a revenge against after a painful defeat at the 2014 World Cup.
Even though Ronaldo scored the match winning goal for Portugal at the 2014 World Cup, Yaw Preko believes the Manchester United talisman will not be dangerous to the Black Stars in Qatar considering his unimpressive performance at the English Premier League club.
“We shouldn’t underrate Portugal. I don’t see Ronaldo as a threat but the players around him”, he stated.
“Since he came to Manchester United, you can see that physically and psychologically, he is not the same but the players around him are dangerous,” he told Graphic Sports.
Aside Portugal, Ghana have been paired in group H alongside Uruguay and Korea Republic.
This will be the fourth time Ghana will be playing in the World Cup after 2006, 2010 and 2014. Ghana had her best performance at the World Cup in 2010 at South Africa where the West African country managed to reach the quarterfinals, and got eliminated through penalty shootouts by Uruguay.
Ghana qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar by defeating Nigeria during the playoff round. The first leg ended goalless in Kumasi before the Black Stars traveled to Abuja for a one-all stalemate at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium…
