Ghanaian highlife duo of Kofi Kinaata and Okyeame Kwame have been appointed as the brand ambassadors for the upcoming International Coconut Festival.
The duo were appointed for the role during the unveiling ceremony and the launching of festival at the Ghana Export Promotion and Authority (GEPA) head office in Accra on Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
The International Coconut Festival is organized by the African Coconut Group in collaboration with GEPA, is to bring the importance of coconut to Ghanaians and how it can bring foreign exchange.
The Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Afua Asabea Asare, during the launching ceremony said, “the event is going to be a festival of all the things we can use coconut for. It’s going to draw people from around the world and we are hoping that by the end of this festival we would have understood the coconut tree very well and the main uses as well as how we can derive foreign exchange.”
“We, at GEPA, are very anxious to see this succeed. Because we want to expand the export of coconut to foreign countries. A lot of people are requesting (for coconuts) but we cannot meet our needs. So, by doing this, we hope that other people will be interested in learning how to plant coconut and maximise profit.”
Upon signing the new contract, Kofi Kinaata stated: “I would like to thank everyone who came on board to help this initiative. I promise to do my best”.
Okyeame Kwame also added that, “Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to be part of nation-building…henceforth, I’ll put International Coconut Festival first in everything that I do.”
International Coconut Festival will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre from September 24 to 26, 2019.
Already Kofi Kinaata is the ambassador for the Save Migration campaign.
