The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer has cut sod for the construction of an Ultramodern Six (6) Unit Classroom Block for Aggrey Memorial School in Sekondi, Baka-Ekyir.
The project which is expected to be completed in 6 months is being financed by Ghana Gas Company Limited as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
During the event, Hon. Andrew Egyapa Mercer said the facility will help improve the educational infrastructure in Sekondi, increase the number of enrollments and create a sound environment to facilitate effective teaching and learning in the community.

He also stressed that education is a key tool to personal and national development; hence, his commitment together with that of the Central Government, some Government Agencies and other Organizations & Corporations to ensure provision of quality and accessible education to the constituent. As such, provision of education at the basic and secondary levels will continue to be a topmost priority.
As part of the actualization of his vision for his constituency, he said a number of classroom blocks and dormitories have or are being built at St John’s School, Adiembra Senior High School, Queen Elizabeth Day Care, Fijai Senior High School, Presbyterian Primary School, Sekondi Zongo Islamic School and Regional Science Resources Centre at Fijai Senior High School.
On other developmental projects in Sekondi, Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer indicated that the 10.2km of road construction which has already started in the Constituency by JUSTMORE Construction Company will cover all the roads in Baka-Ekyir and Pariscoa as well as Sekondi Kokompe, Adiembra and obviously Kweikuma Roads.

The Metro Engineer of Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Mr William Tei Kpoti, also promised the Assembly’s resolve to see to the successful and timely completion of the projects.
The Assembly Man for Baka-Ekyir electoral area, Hon Hector Brookman, commended the MP for Sekondi and Ghana Gas for providing them with the Six Unit Classroom Block. He said “this new building will bring Aggrey Memorial School back to its glory days.”
