The Chairman of the Normalization Committee, Dr. Kofi Amoah has revealed the date for the commencement of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.
The 2018/19 Ghana Premier League was truncated following an investigation by ace Ghanaian undercover journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas which uncovered the corrupt practices in the game leading to a lifetime ban on Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
After the truncation of the Ghana Premier League, FIFA instituted the Normalization Committee headed by Dr. Kofi Amoah where they organized a novelty league to keep the clubs busy and also select reps for next season’s CAF inter-club competitions.
However, speaking at the grand finale of the NC Special Competition tier 1 final at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, Dr. Kofi Amoah said “the next league will start in August, the GFA will communicate to them (Ghana Premier League Clubs), they already have an idea but we also know that we are going through the normalisation process of changing the statues.
“FIFA has approved what we have done and we now have to place it in front of Congress, once it been approved we heard for elections.”
Meanwhile, Kumasi Asante Kotoko won the NC Special Competition tier 1 and will represent Ghana in next season’s CAF Champions League while Ashgold will face Nzema Kotoko in the tier 2 final on June, 30 for the CAF Confederation Cup slot.
