As part of preparations towards the 2021 National cross country scheduled for February 18-20, this year at Sefwi Wiawso, the Western Regional Sports Directorate is organizing inter-district cross country for the various districts and municipalities in the region.
The event set for February 13, 2021 is to select the best athletes to represent the Western Region at the national event.[ads2]
Fourteen administrative districts and municipalities in the Western Region with thirteen contingents of six male and six female athletes and an official will be competing for the bragging rights and a chance to represent the region at the national event.
Athletes will run a ten kilometer journey, with the Gyandu Park in Sekondi as the starting point and Sekondi Sports Stadium as the finishing point.[ads3]
The arrival of the various regions has been set for Friday, February 12, where the athletes will be going through the various processes including inspection of routes and pre-techincal meetings before Saturday, February 13 for the main event..[ads4]
The selected athletes will be camped and trained to represent the region at the national cross country to be held at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western Region.
There will also be cash prizes for the first three winners in both tmale and female categories..[ads5]
