WAFA SC have stipulated a sour moment in Hearts of Oak title celebration after a 1:0 victory at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.
Hearts of Oak wanted to climax the league season with a sweet victory against WAFA to celebrate their league triumph but ended it a sad note in week 34 of the Ghana Premier league.[ads2]
It was only goal from Atte Yousifou that ensured that WAFA ended the game as victors at the expense of league winners Hearts of Oak.
Despite winning the league already, Hearts of Oak wanted to make the coronation an unforgettable moment by ditching the Academy Boys but all efforts yielded no result.
A super performance from the Phobians saw the first half of the game ending in a goalless despite the two clubs creating some glaring opportunities.[ads3]
The two clubs retuned from the tunnel with showcase another mind-blowing performance but Atte Yousifou scored broke the deadlock for WAFA in the 64th minute.[ads4]
The Phobians tried all their possible best to at least return to Accra with a point but all efforts went fruitless.
Despite the defeat, Hearts of Oak are champions of this season Ghana Premier league, a trophy they last won in 2009.
This becomes their 21st league title, just three away from bitterest rivals Asante Kotoko who have won it on a record of 24 times.[ads5]
