Ghanaian referee Maxwell Hanson has been beaten mercilessly in a division one league game between BA United and Real Tamale United on Sunday.
In a video trending on social media, the enterprising referee could be seen running on the field whiles a team of angry supporters chase after him.[ads2]
His crime according to multiple reports from the match venue is awarding a penalty to RTU.[ads3]
Referee Maxwell Hanson could be seen running for his life but couldn’t run further as he was grabbed by these angry supporters who layer assault him on the field.
He was only rescued by the security officials after minutes of assault.[ads4]
