Division One League side Techiman City FC have petitioned the Ghana Football Association to revert decision of suspending them from the 2020/21 league season.
It would be recalled that the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the exercise of its powers under Article 39(n) of the GFA Statutes 2019 suspended the club provisionally until the next Congress of the GFA for violating the Statutes of the Association.

This comes after Techiman City issued a Writ against the GFA and filed an Ex-parte Motion against the GFA to place an interlocutory injunction on the 26th Ordinary Congress of the Ghana Football Association.
This led to the Ghana FA suspending the club from participating in the forthcoming league season until the next GFA Congress decides the fate of the club as prescribed under Article 17 and 18 of the GFA Statutes.
The statement from Techiman City reads, “Please kindly accept the compliments of the entire family of Techiman City Football Club. We hereby write to acknowledge receipt of your letter of even reference dated 18th September, 2020 on the above subject.
We note with sadness the content of the letter and hereby forward our response to your high office and the Executive Council”

“We wish to state from the onset that our attempted action was well intentioned and without any malice or disrespect to the Office of the GFA President and the Executive Council. We were motivated by our unalloyed allegiance to the Association and only sought to draw the attention of leadership to a thorny yet unresolved governance issue which had the potential of affecting the very foundation of our association”
“General Secretary, you may recall that the GFA was not served with a writ from our Club, and secondly our legal team, upon further and deeper reflections sought to withdraw the writ and
indeed did inform the court of their intention. The above notwithstanding, we still wish to take this opportunity to deeply apologize for any embarrassment our attempted action may have caused the association. Clearly this was never our motivation”
“We wish to humbly appeal to the President and the Executive Council to rescind the decision and to further reinstate our club to its previous status as a member of the Association. General Secretary, we are all fully aware of the anguish, financial and emotional cost that the football community, not least Techiman City Football Club, has endured as a result of the Covid 19
pandemic and the subsequent freeze by Government as part of efforts to contain the spread of the Covid 19 virus”

“Sir, it is particularly painful for our team that at this moment when the entire football community has embraced with sheer relief and joy, the announcement by H.E President Akufo Addo of the return of football activities, we have been slapped with this punishment. We once again wish to plead for a reversal of the punishment in the spirit of unity and sportsmanship and in true consideration of the plight of our players and staff. We trust that this humble plea will meet your most favorable consideration and wish to once again extend to you the assurances of our highest consideration and cooperation.”
