Ghana international Tariq Lamptey is set to continue his Premier League journey with Brighton & Hove Albion after signing a one-year contract extension that will keep him at the club until June 2026.
The 24-year-old right-back, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of June 2025, has committed his immediate future to the Seagulls following positive talks with the club’s hierarchy. The extension was officially announced on Monday, June 9.
Lamptey joined Brighton from Chelsea in January 2020 and quickly established himself as a dynamic presence in wide areas. Since making his debut, he has racked up 122 appearances for the club, netting five goals and contributing 12 assists.
Head coach Fabian Hürzeler welcomed the agreement, stating, “We’re delighted Tariq is staying with us. He wants to help the team achieve our targets and gives us great options in wide areas. We are looking forward to Tariq being part of our journey next season.”
Despite battling injuries in previous campaigns, Lamptey featured in 20 matches across all competitions last season, registering three goals and two assists. His attacking instincts and pace continue to make him a key figure in Brighton’s setup.
With the extension now confirmed, Lamptey will aim to play a more prominent role in the 2025/26 campaign as Brighton look to build on recent successes in the Premier League.
