Takoradi Habour Circuit Court A in the Western Region has granted bail to Josephine Panyin Mensah, the woman who was allegedly kidnapped but reappeared six days after.
Identified as Josephine Panyin Mensah, the 28-year old was admitted to a bail of GHS 50,000 with two sureties.
She was arraigned before court on Monday, September 27, 2021 over alleged fake pregnancy claims[ads2]
Appearing before court for the first time, Mrs. Mensah pleaded not guilty to the charges of deceiving a public officer and publication of false news with intent to cause fear and panic.
This is despite claims by the police that she confessed to faking her kidnapping and pregnancy.[ads3]
Josephine Mensah Panyin was allegedly kidnapped on September 16 when going for a morning routine walk around 5:00AM.
She was later found in Axim, miles away from Takoradi in the Western Region where the alleged kidnap case occurred.
The Western Regional Minister, Hon. Kwabena Okyere-Darko Mensah came out to state that the woman was never pregnant and the kidnap was fake.[ads4]
Hours later came with police statement, affirming what the minister said earlier on radio interview which received huge backlashes from the populace.
The police then came out with the statement that Josephine Mensah Panyin has confessed of faking the pregnancy and the kidnapping.[ads5]
