The Youth and Sports Ministry is expecting a report of the new Black Stars head coach this week says the sector Minister, Mustapha Ussif.
According to the Minister, he has been informed about the process the Ghana FA is taking to appoint a new tactician for the Ghana senior male national team.
Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee hearing last week, the Yagaba-Kubori lawmaker stated that the Ghana FA is expected to submit to his outfit a full report of the yet-to-be appointed Black Stars head coach this week before the official announcement.
The Black Stars head coach job has been vacant since Otto Addo resigned from his position after Ghana’s abysmal performance at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar where the West African football powerhouse failed to progress from the group stage.
And according to the spokesperson of the Ghana FA, Henry Asante Twum, about 1000 coaches have applied for the Black Stars top job with Kwesi Appiah reportedly the only local coach vying for the job.
Ghana will have to appoint a new coach for the Black Stars before the team’s next assignment in March in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
