Reigning Ghana Premier league champions, Hearts of Oak have joined the race to sign striker Stephen Amankona.
According to sources, the Phobians have enquired about the availability of the deadly goal poacher as they seek to land his service to strengthen their squad.[ads2]
Sources reveal that talks between Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea is progressing speedily despite Asante Kotoko also showing keen interest.
Amankona has been heavily linked to Asante Kotoko after explosive form last season.
A source at Berekum Chelsea reveal to Kyfilla.com that “we want $30,000 before releasing Amankona to any team.”[ads3]
The source added that, “Kotoko were willing to add their player, Osman Ibrahim plus cash for Amankona but the boy [Osman Ibrahim] has opted to join King Faisal, so Kotoko have no other option than to pay the asking price before we release Amankona to them.”
With few days left to the closure of the transfer window in Ghana, Hearts of Oak are said to be leading the race to land the service of Amankona even though Kotoko have refused to give up the chase.[ads4]
Amankona was spectacular for Berekum Chelsea last season which has attracted keen interest from the two most glamours clubs in the country.
He was sensational and undoubtedly one of the best players in the league having scored 15 goals in all competitions in the 2020-21 season coupled with 7 assists, alongside three man-of-the-match awards.[ads5]
