The National Film Authority has placed a ban on showing of unclassified audiovisual contents on various television platforms in Ghana effective May 1, 2021.
This was contained in a press release signed by the Chairman of the Development and Classified Committee of the National Film Authority, Socrate Sarfo.[ads2]
According to the statement, all audiovisual contents meant for public exhibition will be previewed and classified before the intended exhibition.These include feature films, short films, advertisements, music videos and others meant for the public exhibition.
Part of the statement reads, “Any audiovisual content shall be submitted before the Development and Classified Committee for examination and classification at least twenty-one days before the intended exhibition.”[ads3]
The statement further state that, anyone who fails to comply with the directives shall be subject to offences and Penalties of the Development and Classified Committee Act 935.[ads4]
