Ghana Premier League giant, Hearts of Oak have released leading striker Joseph Esso according to a statement from the club.
Joseph Esso was among the five players namely; Benjamin Agyare, Abubakar Traore, Christopher Bonney and Bernard Arthur who were released by Hearts of Oak on Friday.

Esso’s released has shocked many especially followers of the Ghana Premier League giant.
But the Communications Director of the Accra-based side, Opare Addo uas explained why the club decided to left go the striker who was arguably one of the best players for the club in the just truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

“Joseph Esso opted for only one year contract extension contrary to what Hearts were requesting for.His demands caused our decision to part ways with him,” said Opare Addo.
Esso joined Hearts of Oak from fellow Premiership side Ebusua Dwarfs on a three-year deal in 2017.
The 23-year old scored 3 goals in his 14 appearances for the Phobians in the just cancelled 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.

He was part of the Black Sears ‘B’ team that finished second in the 2019 WAFU Championship in Senegal.
