Asante Kotoko marked a perfect return to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with a hard-fought win against Bechem United on Sunday afternoon.
Two pair of late goals ensured the Porcupines defeat Bechem United 2:0 at their favorite Baba Yara Sports Stadium.[ads2]
It took defender Abdul Ganiyu to open the deadlock for Asante Kotoko in the 86th minute by converting a penalty after Isaac Oppong was pushed down inside the box.
Striker Samuel Boateng sealed the victory in the 94th minute with a powerful header.
It was a game worth spending time to watch as both sides showcased an amazing performance.[ads3]
Bechem United gave Asante Kotoko a tough match even though many expected to be a mere formality for the Porcupine Warriors.
It was a goalless first half and the visitors had goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu who pulled some great saves.
Bechem United striker Emmanuel Avornyo, who scored a brace in their opener, was athletic upfront and caused a lot of troubles for the Kotoko shaky defence.
Bechem United should have broken the virginity of the game early in the first half after Avornyo had a beautiful chance to send the Hunters to the lead but goalkeeper Razak Abalora saved the situation.[ads4]
In the second half, Augustine Okrah bulldozed the Kotoko defence and went pass Abalora but his cut back low cross inside the box could not find target.
