Asante Kotoko defender and captain, Abdul Ganiyu is reportedly among the locally-based players included in the Black Stars provisional squad for AFCON 2021.
According to reports, Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac has submitted a 40-man provisional squad to the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for scrutiny and approval.[ads2]
It is believed that only four locally-based players were included in the provisional squad which includes Asante Kotoko skipper Abdul Ganiyu.
Dreams FC duo of Fatawu Issahaku and Philemon Baffour are reportedly among the four locally-based players included in the provisional squad by coach Milovan Rajevac.[ads3]
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Richard Attah is reportedly in the squad at the expense of Asante Kotoko netminder Razak Abalora who was once a second-choice goalkeeper at the Black Stars.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is expected to announce the squad next week as the four-time AFCON winners seek to add the fifth trophy to their cabinet in Cameroon next year.[ads4]
As part of preparations for the prestigious tournament in Cameroon, Ghana will pitch camp in Qatar, engage Algeria and two other countries in pre-AFCON friendlies before traveling to Cameroon for the showdown.
Ghana has been drawn in group C alongside Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.[ads5]
