Asante Kotoko are heading to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) to challenge their elimination from the CAF Champions League according to JoyNews.
The Porcupine Warriors were eliminated from the CAF Champions League after their game against Al Hilal in Sudan was called off.[ads2]
Reports were that the game was called off after Asante Kotoko failed to raise fifteen players for the match after seven of their players and four officials contracted the deadly Coronavirus.
But Asante Kotoko in a publication on their social media platforms stated that the test results of their players were tampered by officials of Al Hilal.[ads3]
The Ghana Premier League giant were however excluded from the list of clubs who have qualifed for the group stages of the CAF Champions League with Al Hilal included despite Asante Kotoko petitioning CAF on the happenings in Sudan.
But JoyNews is reporting that Asante Kotoko are heading to CAS to challenge the decision.[ads4]
Asante Kotoko have subsequently been dropped to the CAF Confederation Cup after the game against Al Hilal was called off.
Asante Kotoko lost the first leg by a goal to nil at the Accra Sports Stadium before the second leg in Sudan which was called off.[ads5]
