Ghana Premier league powerhouse, Asante Kotoko have appointed Prosper Narteh Ogum as new head coach.
The astute gaffer has joined the Porcupine Warriors on a two-year deal after fruitful negotiations.
Narteh Ogum has replaced Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto who had his contract terminated after the 2020/21 league season.[ads2]
Barreto was appointed head coach of Asante Kotoko in the early stages of the just ended league season after the sacking of coach Maxwell Konadu.
He guided Kotoko to a second place on the 2020/21 Ghana Premier league log, losing the title to bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak.
Meanwhile, Prosper Narteh Ogum has joined Kotoko from WAFA SC after a splendid performance with the team in last season where they finished third on the league log.[ads3]
The 43-year old in 2013 masterminded the qualification of Elmina Sharks to the Ghana Division One League.
He also worked with Ebusua Dwarfs in the Premier League during a short stint in 2016, and later resigned to pursue his Doctor of Philosophy programme.
Narteh Ogum was later appointed Karela United head coach in. October, 2019 but the deal was however terminated after disagreements with the management board.[ads4]
After just two months of leaving Karela United, Prosper Narteh Ogum landed the West African Football Academy (WAFA) coaching job ahead of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season.
In his first season, Narteh Ogum led WAFA to the 10th position on the league standings before the season was truncated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During his second season, the 2020/21 season, he guided WAFA to a 3rd place finish accumulating 56 points.[ads5]
