President Akufo-Addo has rewarded the Black Satellites players with a sum of $10,000 each for winning the 2021 U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
Ghana defeated Uganda in the grand finale by 2:0 to lift the giant trophy with skipper Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scoring the two goals.
This becomes the fourth time Ghana has won the trophy after last winning it in 2009 in Rwanda.[ads2]
After landing in the country, the contingent presented the trophy to the President at the Jubilee House .
During the trophy presentation, President Akufo-Addo promised to reward the playing body with a sum of $10,000 each.
The players will get $5000 cash before another $5000 in a 10-year investment.
President Akufo-Addo rewarded the technical team with the total reward summing up to $330,000 for the entire team of players and officials.[ads4]
The President also made personal donation of $5,000 to the MVP Issahaku Fatawu, Goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and head Coach Karim Zito.
Ghana is currently joint with Egypt as most successful countries in the U-20 AFCON.
