The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi on Friday, August 14, 2020 paid a working visit to the Sekondi Sports Stadium to monitor progress of the ongoing renovation works.
The Sekondi Sports Stadium is currently undergoing a massive renovation for the very first time after almost twelve years of existence.
Works begun few months ago with the contractor working tirelessly to meet the agreed one year duration.

To be able to brief the Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, and as part of routine monitoring of sports development issues in the country, Professor Peter Twumasi took time to inspects the works very well.
The foreman and one of the workers, took Professor Peter Twumasi, the Regional Sports Director Mr. Joseph Alabi Bortey and some staff from the Western Regional Sports Directorate around to show them progress made so far as far as the renovation exercise is concerned.

It took Professor Peter Twumasi over an hour to thoroughly inspect the works as the foreman gave detailed explanation how work was progressing.
Professor Peter Twumasi was delighted with the works so far and urged the contractor to speed up to meet the one year period.
From there, Professor Peter Twumasi also inspected the Gyandu Park in Sekondi to inspect the state the facility.

Professor Peter Twumasi however bemoaned the poor State of the facility which has not been given any facelift since 2008 and expressed the need to rehabilitate the facility to include some components such as tartan tracks, multipurpose courts etc due the strategic location of the Gyandu Park to make it more convenient for use by the community.

It should be stated that under the leadership of Prof. Peter Twumasi, there has been massive improvement in sports development and sports infrastructure through out the country.
