The workers of the Sekondi artificial turf project has lamented that the residents of the town are stealing the materials for the construction of the turf.
It would be recalled that, about five months ago, the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Hon Andrew Egyapa Mercer cut sod for the transformation of the Sekondi Methodist Park into an ultramodern artificial turf.
The project, financed by Ghana Gas Company Limited was supposed to have been completed next month, but it has been delayed due to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus according to the workers.

One of the workers on the project Isaac Ranus explained that residents of Sekondi and nearby communities have been stealing the materials for the construction of the turf and that is affecting the progress of work.
“The project has been delayed because of the Covid-19 but we are trying our best to get the job done in late June.
“But aside the Covid-19, what’s affecting the work is residents in this community [Sekondi] have been stealing the materials for the project. They steal the materials at night especially when it rains and it’s really affecting the progress of work. We will appeal to those who have been doing this to stop for us to complete the work early”, he told Kyfilla.com.
