The Ghana Football Association has announced three debut call-ups to the Black Stars ahead of this week’s international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.
Czech Republic–based striker Prince Kwabena Adu, Medeama SC winger Kelvin Nkrumah, and CF Montréal forward Prince Osei Owusu have all been included in Otto Addo’s squad as Ghana continue preparations for next year’s FIFA World Cup.
Prince Kwabena Adu, a former Bechem United forward, has been in fine form in the Czech top flight, earning a deserved opportunity to stake a claim for a regular spot in the national team.
Montreal’s Prince Osei Owusu also earns his maiden call-up following a series of impressive performances in Major League Soccer. The 28-year-old forward, born in Wertheim, Germany, began his career at VfB Stuttgart’s academy before successful spells with TSG Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefeld, and TSV 1860 Munich. He joined CF Montréal after two productive seasons with Toronto FC, where he netted nine goals in 31 appearances.
Locally, Medeama SC’s Kelvin Nkrumah has been rewarded for his blistering start to the Ghana Premier League campaign. The pacey winger has been instrumental in the Tarkwa-based side’s strong run, helping them climb to second on the league table.
Head coach Otto Addo is expected to lead his first training session in Nagoya on Wednesday as the Black Stars gear up for their Kirin Cup clash against Japan on Friday, November 14, before facing South Korea four days later.
The matches form part of Ghana’s build-up to next year’s World Cup and offer a crucial platform for emerging talents to impress on the international stage.
