The National Sports Authority has closed down Baba Yara Sports Stadium temporarily to pave way for the preparations of the upcoming 63rd Independence Anniversary with an immediate effect.

According to a statement from the National Sports Authority, the temporary closure of the stadium is to enable them and the Youth and Sports Ministry to have ample uninterrupted time to fix critical places before the celebration of the 63rd Independence Anniversary which will be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

This means that Ghana Premier League teams; Asante Kotoko and King Faisal as well as other lower tier sides who are using the facility for their league matches have to choose another venue.
