The National Sports Authority (NSA) have reacted to the alleged theft case which occured during Legon Cities FC and Berekum Chelsea league clash on Saturday evening.
Legon Cities FC and Berekum Chelsea had their busses ransacked by thieves during their Ghana Premier League opener at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday evening.
The thieves reportedly made away with laptops, phones, monies and other valuable items belonging to the two clubs.[ads2]
In a statement, the National Sports Authority have stated that the police is yet to receive official complaint on the issue since Saturday.
The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to the aforementioned issue circulating on some media platforms with regards to the match between Legon Cities F.C. and Berekum Chelsea,
which was played on 14th November, 2020 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Information from the police who were in charge of security indicates that they have not received any official complaint on the matter, thus advising all affected parties to lodge their case
with the Greater Accra Regional command”[ads3]
“Furthermore, preliminary briefing from the National Sports Authority’s security indicates that none of the teams vehicles were broken into, which is also a cause for concern to us as custodians of the facility. That notwithstanding, we want to use this opportunity to advice safety officers of the various clubs to liaise with the security officers present in our facilities at all times, so as to
ensure an incident free event on each match day”
“We further advise all stakeholders to
adhere to all the COVID-19 safety protocols that have been put in place by the Authority, in order to stay safe from the COVID-19 pandemic.”[ads5]
