The National Sports Authority is set to close down the Accra Sports Stadium to facilitate Christmas activities.
In view of this, three Betpawa Ghana Premier League clubs will have to find another venue to play their league games.
The NSA’s Director General, Professor Peter Twumasi, signed a letter advising clubs to find alternative venues for their home games since the venue will not be available for matches in December.
Accra Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Great Olympics are the teams that are anticipated to be impacted by the stadium’s closure next month.
The three clubs, the Ghana Football Association, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have all been informed of the stadium’s impending closure, according to a statement issued by the NSA.
“The National Sports Authority wishes to inform you about the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium for sporting purposes.By this letter, all the clubs that use the Accra Sports Stadium are entreated to use their alternative venues to honour their league matches in December,” the statement signed by the NSA reads.
The Accra Sports Stadium is likely to host two musical events or concerts namely; the Freedom Concert and the Bhim Concert, headlined respectively by dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
