Executive Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo has played down the notion that a local coach must be given the Black Stars job.
According to the astute football administrator, there’s no locally-based coach currently capable of handling the Black Stars.[ads2]
Responding to a question on Cape Coast based Darling FM on whether a locally-based coach should be given the Black Stars job after abysmal display by coach Milovan Rajevac at the AFCON 2021, Oduro Sarfo said that, “We had a Ghanaian coach sometime back and what was the results..? Sometimes, he asked the management members to help him in players selection.
“I know the GFA President is eager to equip coaches. It is not official yet but he [GFA Boss] is planning to send some coaches outside for attachment, until then, no local coach is ready to handle the Black Stars”, he added..[ads3]
Ghana has been booted out of the AFCON 2021 after painful defeat to minnows Comoros in last group game of the tournament.
The Black Stars were beaten 3:2 by Comoros on last Tuesday to finish bottom in a group that also had Morocco and Gabon with only a point after three matches, scoring only three goals and conceding six.[ads5]
