President Akufo-Addo has named Hon. Mustapha Yussif as the Youth and Sports Minister designate.
In a list submitted to the speaker of Parliament by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 21, 2021, the MP for Yagba/Kubore has been penciled as Minister designate for the top position.[ads2]
Hon. Yussif will be taking over from MP for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah who was in charge of the Youth and Sports Ministry during the first term of President Akufo-Addo.
This comes as great surprise to many who believe Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah performed extraordinary during the first term of President Akufo-Addo.[ads3]
Meanwhile, the list has been submitted to the speaker of Parliament for prior approval as Constitution demands.
This time around, President Akufo-Addo has aligned seven Ministries in his second term which includes; Aviation, Business Development, Inner City and Zongo Development, Monitoring and Evaluation, Planning, Regional Re-organisation and Development, and Special Development Initiatives, have been realigned.[ads4]
President Akufo-Addo has effected this realignment because virtually all these special-purpose Ministries have achieved the purposes for which they were established.
Also, the Office of the Senior Minister has also been abolished. This will result in a total of twenty-eight (28) Ministries, down from the thirty-six (36) of his first term.
