Mohammed Salisu name pops up in Champions League Team of the Week
Ghanaian international Mohammed Salisu’s name has popped up in the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week following AS Monaco’s narrow victory over Galatasaray on home turf.

The Black Stars defender delivered an outstanding performance as the French Ligue 1 side secured a 1-0 win against Galatasaray during the sixth week of the Champions League phase at Stade Louis-II on Tuesday.

A decisive goal by USA international Folarin Balogun in the 68th minute ensured the Principality club claimed all three points at home. Salisu’s formidable presence in defense was instrumental in thwarting Nigerian star Victor Osimhen, preventing him from scoring in this high-stakes encounter.

His exceptional performance was duly recognized, earning him a place in the Team of the Week with a commendable rating of 7.5, highlighting his significant impact on the match.

The former Southampton player has established himself as a regular starter for Monaco this season, a marked improvement after limited opportunities under Adi Hütter last term.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian center-back has featured in five out of six Champions League matches this season. Across all competitions, Salisu has made 15 appearances, contributing one goal during this period.
