The Chief Executive Officer of Medeama Sporting Club, James Essilfie has resigned from his position at the Ghana Premier League club.
The perspicacious football administrator has resigned from the Tarkwa-based club as CEO after thirteen years of active service.
Mr. Essilfie is said to have tendered in his resignation letter to the management of Medeama SC on Friday before the team’s trip to Techiman for Eleven Wonders showdown this weekend.[ads2]
Reasons for his resignation remains unknown but media reports indicate that it as a result of wranglings at the top hierarchy of the club.
“It has been the greatest privilege to serve Medeama Sporting Club for 13 wonderful years,” Essilfie said.[ads3]
“However, I have always been conscious of the fact that, as a member of staff, I was always just a temporary custodian of this marvelous institution.
“I worked with an amazing and hardworking staff who will continue to raise the image of this great club high.
“I am extremely grateful to the president, board, management and supporters for their unflinching support over the years. It has been ups and down, but I will cherish every memory for the rest of my life.[ads4]
“It’s an appropriate time for someone to pick up the baton and continue to serve this badge.”
During his tenure, James Essilfie guided Medeama to win two FA Cup titles and played in the CAF Confederation Cup on two occasions, featuring in the group stage in 2016.[ads5]
