Asante Kotoko newly appointed head coach Maxwell Konadu has made known the reason why he chose to re-join the club after barely seven years of his exit.

The former Wa All Stars gaffer joined Kotoko on a two-year deal despite his job as the Black Stars ‘B’ head coach.
Speaking to Kumasi based Fox FM, Konadu indicated that, the main reason why he accepted to coach Kotoko again is that, the management of the club showed that indeed they really need his service than ever after Kjetil Zachariassen’ abysmal show in the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

“The difference is that, this time the team’s efforts to get me was greater than all other years, that also played a major role. Dignitaries from all facets who have the club at heart kept calling me every now and then, including our own Dr. Kwame Kyei (Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko).
“I think it’s the right time for me to make that decision, because the efforts from the officials to get me was greater, and in football too even for players they go where they are most wanted. Most of the times it’s not about where you get the most money but if you go where you are wanted the most that is where you are mostly successful, so I think the timing is right and I don’t think there will be most problem”, Konadu told Fox FM.

He is expected to use his vast experience in the local football to help the Porcupine Warriors to return back to Africa club competition despite their shameful exit from the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup.
Maxwell Konadu was officially unveiled as Kotoko new head coach on Wednesday at the team’s training grounds at Adako Jachie.
